Above Ground

Mondays
9pm to 11pm Central
Music Bowl

My name is Jack Foley and I owe my existence to radio. In the early seventies, my mother called in to a radio station to request a song. The host of the program failed to play the song she had requested so she called back. He told her to just come on down to the station and help him find the correct tune she had asked for which she did (in curlers no less) and that is how my parents met.

By the time I was 14 years old, I had spent many hours with my dad at various radio stations. I answered the weather line and took song requests. I learned to do an impression of "the old man's" radio voice and one day asked my grandmother to drive me to the local station in Mineral Wells, Tx. I walked in and asked for the program director and explained I wanted to be on the air. He humored me and let me read a couple of news stories and a weather report. I did the impression of my father and got a show of my own. I was fired for being only a kid a few months later.

However, twenty years later I think those wounds have finally healed, and I am now here every Monday 9 to 11 pm on Fishbowl Radio Network.
